Values on Main Street
Plainfield wanted its core values somewhere residents would meet them every day. The answer stands on the lawn behind the town's government building on Main Street: a black stainless-steel lantern with Truth, Justice, Dignity, Honesty, Kindness, Integrity, Reliability, Law & Rules, Environment, Others' Rights, Accountability, and Equal Opportunity cut through its walls.
Another company had already proposed a way to light it. Charlie could see at a glance it would not work, so he engineered his own, then solved the harder problem: keeping letters sharp when light passes through a curved steel wall instead of stretching across the ground.

Up close
The letters look upside down on the steel. That is on purpose: they are cut to land right way up on the ground.
